Customer Feedback

We thrive on feedback (of all types). As a family-owned and operated business, it is important to us to know that not only is our bedding of good quality but that it is fit for purpose, easy to work with and reduces environmental impact as well as being easily stackable and comfortable for the animals who ultimately spend their time on it.

Being animal owners ourselves, we thoroughly appreciate having animals can be hard work, particularly when the weather takes on extremes of temperature, and endless bouts of rain does its hardest to dampen even the most positive of spirits.

In essence, we understand that you just want a bedding product that is not only cost-effective but absorbent, easy to handle and lay, and reduces the time required to shovel, skip, fork, sift, and clear out, saving you time, your back, and your money too!

We hope that each of your interactions with us from your initial enquiry, through the payment and delivery process, you have the best customer service experience possible. We always endeavour to deliver your order in a timely fashion, with the minimum fuss and our drivers are happy to assist with stacking your bales for you.

Keen to gauge how we are doing, we recently sent out an anonymous survey of our S4Bed customers! We are very humbled and flattered by the responses we have had.

Here are just a few of the comments we have received:

“Brilliant Service very accommodating at the Office! Excellent”

“We think the bedding is great value and easy to muck out, and we have noticed a massive difference in how much longer our muck trailer lasts 100% recommend this product”
“The team are helpful, quick responding, delivery on time and very helpful driver.”

“This product has solved all our bedding issues requirements for sheep, goats, chickens, horses, rabbits and ferrets.”

“Fantastic product, use for all my horses, great service and such great staff.”

“Always excellent service from ordering to delivery and love supporting a smaller business rather than a big supplier. Much more personal service. Oh and Lee is definitely the best driver…did I mention that lol!”

Thank you to everyone who took the time to complete the survey, we very much value your custom, and look forward to continuing to work with you. If you are new to us give us a call on 01342 659100 to find out more about S4Bed and how it might work for you and your animal(s).

Alpaca Society Event Success

Alpaca Society Event Success

S4Bed were once again delighted to have been chosen as the preferred bedding supplier for the recent British Alpaca Society Show at Spring Live 2023 held at the South of England Showground Ardingly.

The event was well attended by visitors and exhibitors alike with some beautifully bred Alpacas  on show. We wanted to delve a bit deeper into this special type of animal – The Awesome Alpaca.

Alpaca

Alpacas are a type of South American camelid, related to llamas, vicuñas, and guanacos. They are domesticated animals and have been raised for their wool, meat, and as pack animals for thousands of years. Here are some reasons why alpacas are considered special:

Soft and Warm Wool: Alpacas produce one of the finest and softest natural fibers in the world, which is warmer and more water-resistant than sheep’s wool. The fibers come in 22 natural colors and over 300 shades, making them versatile for use in textiles and fashion.

Easy to Raise: Alpacas are easy to care for, require minimal space, and are gentle and docile animals that do not require much training. They are also environmentally friendly, as they have a low impact on the land and are efficient converters of grass into fiber and meat.

Friendly and Intelligent: Alpacas are known for their curious and social behavior. They are intelligent animals that can recognize their owners, follow voice commands, and even make facial expressions to communicate their mood.

Therapeutic Value: Alpacas have been used in therapy programs for children with special needs and veterans suffering from PTSD. Their calm and gentle nature can help reduce stress and anxiety and promote relaxation and healing.

Overall, alpacas are unique animals with a combination of desirable traits that make them special and valuable to their owners and society.

Cardboard bedding is a great choice for Alpacas as it is not only dust extracted but also very absorbent and comfortable for them to lie on. As well as it being a cost-effective and versatile solution for owners of all types of animals.

Grinny Pig

We met up with one of lovely our customers, Lorraine Cousillas, Owner of Stirrups Equestrian Supplies in East Grinstead, and her positively adorable boar guinea pig Rubin who will be turning three in November. He is one of the most well-handled, well-loved, and well-behaved indoor guinea pigs we have had the pleasure of meeting. Lorraine has been using S4Bed in Rubins beds for nearly six months, so has had plenty of time to test out the bedding with Rubin and to give us their honest feedback.

Lorraine had previously been using another type of bedding, but found it to be more costly and less absorbent than S4Bed. She commented” I have found S4Bed easy to use, quick to clean out, and the bedding looks fresh all the time, and definitely better than using shavings of sawdust which so many people use, but which could get into his eyes and make them sore”

Benefits
  • Dust extracted
  • Non-allergenic (for pet and owner!)
  • Easy to use
  • No smell
  • looks good
  • Absorbent
  • One 20kg bag lasts ages
  • Environmentally friendly

She continued “I love S4Bed because I have allergies myself so the fact that it is dust extracted means I have no issues or flare-ups using it. There are no ammonia spots and it simply doesn’t smell, unlike any other bedding. I’m a complete convert and I would 100% recommend S4Bed bedding to other people with small animals like guinea pigs, rats, mice, degus and tortoise amongst many others”

Still Your Bedding Supplier During Lockdown Two

Over the weekend the government announced new national restrictions that will come into force on Thursday 5th November until 2nd December 2020.

During the previous lockdown we were able to remain open because S4Bed provides animal bedding which is exempt from the restrictions.

The holding company for our business S4B Group remained open throughout also due to essential status. S4B provides storage and logistics support to schools, medical centres, hospitals and the police.
In essence it is business as usual for us and our clients.

Searching for the best bedding solution?

from the horses mouth

Searching for the best bedding solution for your horse or pony can be a bit of a minefield. Often owners will take to social media platforms and other forums to ask for advice and in the process receive a raft of suggestions, often leaving the owner more baffled and confused than they did before!

Some of the common issues we come across from owners are…

  • My horse is really wet and I end up taking most of the bed out on a daily basis
  • My pony is really dirty and makes a complete mess of their bed by the morning
  • My horse suffers from allergies and I need to reduce dust
  • Our muck heap is massive and takes ages to degrade
  • I need a bedding that I can deep litter and just fully muck out at the weekend
  • I want to consider the environment with my choice of bedding

Solution

We have been able to help people with just these issues. Our S4Bed cardboard animal bedding is made from recycled cardboard so that is a tick in the box for helping towards doing your bit for the environment. S4Bed is dust extracted in the shredding process so it reduces the dust in your horses bed and helps allergy prone horses. Some people choose to lay the bed as a whole with no other bedding and have found that it keeps their horses cool in summer and warm in winter due to thermal properties.

A number of customers have chosen to use S4Bed under their other bedding such as straw or shavings as it is very absorbent and doesn’t smell like some other bedding. A few clients have chosen to deep litter on a weekly basis and only dig out at weekends which has worked well for them. We have also been told that it takes less time for S4bed to rot down on the muck heap than shavings so it saves on space too.
